That was helpful. I'm kind of in-between on the chart though. If I weigh 155 and have a shorty with long sleeves should I think about starting with 17 lbs in salt water ? thanks

17 might be a bit much. Is this a 7mil suit?? or 3 mil??

I weigh 220 and dive with 8lbs in salt with a full 3mil.

It's a longsleeved 3mm shorty, and my BC is weight integrated. I'm 5' 6" and weigh 155.

thanks-

I am always taking people on fresh water dives and I always use the same rule, as long as the same gear/exposure suit is being used: only use 60% of the weight you need in the ocean. So saying this, I quess you could work the math back to go from fresh to salt water.

It is different for everyone. Though for you I would recommend that you start with 10 lbs and do a weight check before your dive.

I am 6' and 190. With a full length 3mm I use 6 lbs.

Just got back from warm salty water last month. I am 6'3' and weigh 270# and integrated BC. I had to go from 18# frsh to 26# salty in a 3mm full length. Was able to trim down to 24# when carrying my camera. Any less and I couldn't get down. Made a safety stop really interesting.
