dear sir,
i recently posted to a thread giving a diver info on sunset waters resort.
i mentioned that we did not rent a car and that they have a ping pong table.
now when you read my thread you can click on the words and advertizing web sites come up wanting you to rent cars from avis and where you can buy ping pong tables.
my intent was not to help a private buisness make money.
i was only trying to give someone info what was at the resort.
can you fix this so it never happens again?
thank you.
regards,

I found this thread where you mentioned Ping Pong http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?p=1278062&highlight=ping+pong#post1278062

And this one where you mentioned rent a car: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?p=1278062&highlight=car+rent#post1278062

But I do not see your problem? SB does not allow pop-ups, and I wonder if it's something or your end...?

You may want to run a Tend scan for viruses and spyware: http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp?id=scan

I'm not even close to a computer expert, but I prefer Microsofts free spy protection: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en&Hash=TKGF5S6

But then, the fact that I'm a Supporting Member her could affect my ability to see some ads that you are seeing...??

I'm not a supporting member and I havn't seen any ads either. However, I have seen other websites using the feature you described. It is possible tat you have malicious software installed on you computer. I second the recommendation for a virus/spyware scan.

Smokey and I exchange a couple of PMs today, he gave me link to the post he was referencing, and - I see nothing.

Yep, I think your computer bas been Hijacked by Spyware. Run the Trend and Microsoft scans I suggested earlier and tell us what they find. The Trend will not fix problems - only indentify them, but the free Microsoft seems to be good at cleaning, too. I had one Trojan onces, tho, that forced me into full recovery; boy that was fun, but I got it done.

I helped a friend run these on her computer last month and she had 200+ infections!

Don is right... SB doesn't do anything like that and never has.

Probably some software that got installed on your computer somehow. Might be spyware and might not.

Run Ad-Aware and Microsoft Anti-spyware, and I suggest a virus scan as well.

Actually, when I click on those threads you list.......
they lead to a Curacao thread...

In the left frame bar of the page are ADs on Scubaboard for
Hilton Curaçao
Curaçao: Dive & Spa Packages, prices and online reservations
spa-quest.com

Curacao Shore Excursion
Excursions to Curacao, the Carribean, Mexico and more.
www.shoretrips.com

So I see what he's talking about.
BTW... these are in the Scubaboard frame and aren't spyware.

The Trend scan is for viruses. I am currently running Norton on one machine and just starting McAfee on the other, to get an idea of which I like best, but Trend is a free, outside source scan, seemingly well regarded by HP. They do sell their own protection, of course.

If it is a bad Trojan that cannot be exorcised by Microsoft Anti-spyware, running a recovery is something you can do if you have the CDs and a manufacturer's Tech Support agent you can understand. I generally have to call 6 times to get one I can.

The SB Classic No Sidebar theme doesn't have a left panel with ads.. but I was under the impression he meant *his* words were turning into links...

The ads you see are from Google and are context sensitive... in a thread about knives you'll probably see ads about knives.
