Nah, those polar blasts hit that warm, humid carrib water and they just die. We depart in 2 days and I'm not worried one bit about this polar vortex in the states. Quite frankly, fate couldn't have timed our departure any better as we'll be departing just as it is arriving!
I just deleted what I originally wrote in response; I have nothing to gain by raining on your parade. I hope you are right.

Heads up! A polar blast is set to come through here (Austin) tonight. These things usually make it all the way to Cozumel.

lol...ten day forecast is low 75 high in the mid 80s....polar blast.....lmao

A polar blast in Cozumel means I might miss a dive day but will still be happy in shorts and sandals and will have extra time to scout out a new restaurant or two and test out their margaritas. It's all good :)

The only forecast that really affects diving is the wind forecast. Until the wind swings past North into a westerly direction 350-180 degrees above 10 Knots, then the question of a port closure is not really an issue. Rain and temp do not factor in.

FWIW, I was referring to wind, not cold. I have been to Cozumel once in January, though, and I had to wear jeans and flannel to dinner one night. It was weird. :D

My Weather Bug reports it's going to be perfect all next week in CZM...cold here at home, so a low of 75 sounds downright awesome!

As of 7 am Friday Both Windguru and WeatherUnderground show that the Texas norte won't get here intact, it will have a shift to the east which won't close the port…but will have some rain Saturday and Sunday. My Texas Red Rock rain gage can confirm.

PS At 9AM cst in Houston the wind is cold but not due North…but NE. That coincides with what we expect here tomorrow. Likely no port closure
