Only one hammerhead was spotted this weekend off Southpoint. This was by a couple if divers that drifted off the line during their safety stop.

temps were 73-74.
vis was 40-50ft at the island. A little better at the local sites.

We had a royal escort of several dozen dolphins on the way to the island. They hung around for about 15 minutes and put on quite a show. the island was a bit of a let down as there didn't seem to be as many fish around as usual. I did spot a new nudi, new to me at least. The highlights of the weekend were a couple of Octo sightings at San Antonio point and a seahorse at la supresca(sp? The surprise). I'll post some pics once I sort them out.

I haven't sorted them all out yet or touched them up, but here's a few

I'm headed down to San Carlos on Saturday for nine days. I won't be able to dive due to facial surgery this week, but if anyone is down there, you're welcome to join me for some adult beverages on my patio across from Hotel Marinaterra.

Conditions this past weekend.

water temp 84, but with some colder pockets starting to creep in. Vis was great at the island(60'+), but half as good locally.

It sounds like the storms that have accompanied hurricane season this year have churned things up pretty good. September and October are usually the best months for visibility on the Sea of Cortez.

Our dive masters/guides during our October 1-5 La Paz trip commented that viz was not what they normally have this time of year.

Maybe things will improve before month's end if storms stop rolling through.

Hola!

July 2 - 5 was stinkin' HOT there. Water was bath-warm, 82. Air was 97 & 97%. :coolingoff:

Mornings werel still and the ocean was glass. Just gorgeous. By 10 or 11, the winds whipped up the waves to whitecaps.

A much-needed monsoon came through the 3rd of July, and it was clouding and windy the 5th.

I cannot give a vis report - I did only equipment checks in the Bahia Delphin. Take sunscreen and dive early!

No one diving San Carlos anymore?
