Pour your ancient dive gear out of an old duffel bag onto the deck and say "wow...it's been a long time since I've seen that stuff".

Ask him/her "So how do you do this scuba diving thing anyway?"

tell them you only dive thethered and where would they prefer you to hook on.

off the nc coast, heading for a nice deep wreck, talk enthusiastically about your 5 dives since ow, 3 in the keys and 2 in a quarry, and say 'this can't be much different, right?'
