Would anyone have thoughts on buying a waterfront condo in lauderdale by the sea? I have an opportunity. Does the threat of flooding, and future impact of a warming climate make this a crazy idea?

When banks stop lending for waterfront and insurance companies stop insuring waterfront and the biggest alarmists stop moving to waterfront properties then you should be concerned.

I'd be more concerned about whether the condo building is going to collapse on me. You know all that S Florida area was once below sea level swamp land with an aquifer just an atmosphere below ground. Amazing they though it was a good place to build. :)

Anyway, it's a cliché, but you only live once. If the deal is good for you then go for it.

I like the place, especially near El Prado. However, Fla prices are out of control. I am kind of expecting the market to drop out like it did in 2008. People bought high…the market dropped, and suddenly thousands were “under water”—not literally but financially. A foreclosure crisis ensued. I hope you are getting a deal.

As for your other question…probably. That plus a Surfside catastrophe.
