Planning a trip to either Key Largo, or Puerto Rico depending on water temp. What's the water temp around Mar 1 in Key Largo. I wear a 3 mil in 84 degree water :scubadive:, and have a 5 mil with 3 mil hooded vest :cold:. Would that work, or do I need to be looking into a 7 mil . I would have to order it because of my height and size, I can't find anything at any of the LDS in my area.:depressed:

Conch Republic Diver's website has dive reports that have water temps: you can ckeck out recent posts and posts from March 2011 to get a feel for temps. My experience has been low to mid 70s with an occasionally dip below 70 and every once in a while, warmer than 75. I wear a 7MM but most people wear 5MM's. so your 5 with 3MM vest should work great

I would think that a 3mm full suit would be fine.

On my dives this week the water was 73-75. Initial rush jumping in, then it's fine. I just got a Henderson 5mm AquaLock, and I wear a hood, quite comfortable. Water may be in the mid-upper 70's by March. Once it hits 80 I wear a 3mm and am fine.

Yes sportxlh, CR always has a dive report. I set up a "Key Largo" list on FB and put the operators in that list, so it's one click for the dive conditions.

Incognegro, I also start my day with this site: NDBC - Station MLRF1
That will give you current conditions on Molasses. As of 7Am today, air 75, water 76, winds 16-17 ESE

For what its worth water temp at Mo per the buoy was a high of 77 yesterday

Thanks for the posts. I needed the same info.
