Ok, so I missed it.....what happened?????

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

Sounds like a quote from Ghostbusters...... ;)

I think it was Great! It sailed right over the heads of a few people, but for all intents and purposes...WE REELED "EM IN LIKE GANGBUSTERS!!!!

Maybe next year I can hide my IP address and I'll have the report on ScubaPro being purchased by Walmart...:D

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...for all who voted "not funny" here's your sign-:mooner:

Small correction - few are whining....

Given the responses to those who dared to say they didn't find it funny, why would it surprise you that so few would say otherwise.

And for the record, I wasn't whining ... I was answering the question posted in the title to this thread. Had the question not been asked, I wouldn't have bothered answering.

But clearly there's only one acceptable answer ... so why would anyone who thinks otherwise open themselves up to more abuse?

NOK is alive and well on ScubaBoard ... more and more, it's being encouraged. Good for business, as hits are all that matters to the advertisers. But the level of useful content is declining, and the folks who used to contribute to actual scuba discussion are becoming harder and harder to find here.

A few of us don't see that as a good thing ...

Genius, sheer unadulterated genius...everyone lighten up.

Cheers.

Where's the option for those of us who missed it? I know the discussions about it haven't been funny.

I agree. It's horrible when people are attacked for expressining an opinion.

I don't understand the term, "NOK," but I do agree with your point. Luckily SB is large enough so that there are still good threads to be found even though the % is declining. I used to frequent a few other boards, but some of them have moved to the point there's almost no discussion about diving at all.

Not really. You can vote in the pool without having to write. And there was more votes than posts in this thread. Still it's the minority. Up to now 90 voted while there are only 39 posts.

On a more serious note:

I disagree. Many of us liked it and was having fun. But it will never please everybody. They have the right to say so.

I would not combine these two things together. I don't see how April Fool's Day (which as far as I remember was always present on SB) has anything to do with less discussion about diving (even if it's a fact which I don't think so). I don't think you should put these two factors as releted in one post. Maybe I'm dumb but I see nothing wrong with having fun. And talking about other things also. Life is not only diving, which after all should be fun as well.

PS. I just hit "new posts". Out of 80 11 are non-diving related. The rest is about diving.

Realy not trying to be the devils advocate here but have you "no-nonsense" guys considered starting your own website? Totaly dedicated to exclusive serious issues of diving only, any one posting nonsense per say as your rules would imply, would be banned from posting.
Personaly I like the wit and humor that most people post here, I also enjoy the good information and ideas many share, though some may not be to my liking I do realize we are not all wired the same.

The "Rule of NOK" is abhorred here on ScubaBoard. NOK=Not Our Kind and is indicative of INTOLERANCE. Quite the contrary, we are more inclusive than any other forum I know, diving or otherwise. That is by design.

It's a shame that those who suggest that others should "lighten up" are accused of using the rule of NOK, while those who suggest that we are being childish, infantile, (insert your own denigrating word here) somehow feel they are being victimized. Apparently, an opinion about an opinion is not acceptable! To them, strong vitriol is OK ONLY if they are the ones using it!

As for discussions about diving, I suggest that one need to look no further than the New Posts Link in order to see that our PREDOMINANT topics are about Scuba Diving. The mix is far better than it was a year ago and even better than it was three years ago. Now, don't expect to find discussions about diving here in site support or even in the NDR sections: that's why they are there! Of course, as with any facts, you are free to draw your own conclusion. Pardon me if I tend to side with reality.
