Was April Fool's Prank funny?

Pete, did that make you feel stupid? It doesn't make me feel stupid when someone gets me. I'm probably the most common "victim" of that trick (of course, I'm also the one who plays it most often as well). In fact, I've never heard anyone say it makes them feel stupid.

Of course it didn't. But, it still had a "victim" and if you play the prank enough (like several thousand users) you are bound to find a few who take exception to it. It's just a matter of time, and quite possibly if their feelings WERE hurt, they are going to try to cover that up to save even more face.

I thought the general concept of the joke was funny. I think most of us saw ourselves mentioned and had a moment of "what the #%$@!" before realizing something odd about it. Those that got offended were generally clued in fairly quickly so they could "get it" and share the laugh.

I think a few were out of line in using it to claim someone was seriously injured or dead. That was distasteful. The more light hearted ones like "long hose wrapped a little tight around the neck" and the "diver crapped his wetsuit" were funny.

I either missed or didn't notice the avatar switch.

You're just making work for yourself.

Removing off-topic posts in a thread on what Apeks regulator someone should buy makes a lot of sense because in the future you'll find other divers searching on the same issue and not wanting to slog through a ton of crap to get the answer.

I seriously doubt anyone is going to be researching the answers in this thread, the whole thing is basically noise without any signal so there's no signal-to-noise ratio to improve.

Not the April Fool's stuff, but the fact that a staff member removed posts that were an obvious and deliberate attempt to defuse a growing tension in this one.

I suppose putting this thread back on topic will increase posts and hits ... and that's always good for business.
