What kind? I've never seen any around here...except as fried calamari.:D

I'm not sure. They come up here to mate and lay their eggs. Their eggs look a lot like mop heads. They are big strands of white eggs,connected together at ground.

They also make good calamari!

Yup, Loligo pealei, they are pretty common around here. It also happens to be the same species of squid that they usually use to make your calamari. :D

I see them here in RI fairly often. I've got a video of a school of them I shot at Bull Point/Ft Wetherill on my website:

Hi All,

It's now looking like I'll be in Wareham MA overnight on Tuesday July 8th. I plan to wrap up work at 5:00 and was wondering if anyone had the evening free for a dive. It looks like we'd be getting in the water about mid tide falling. Weather looks OK except for the ever present chance of a late day boomer.
