I apologize for my above post where my ignorance was the reason of making such a mistake and honestly I am surprised that Sony decided to remove this feature that is used not only for U/W electronic controls housings but there are many tripods that have Lanc controls so you don't have to use the ones one the camcorder.
Looks like Sony soon will give up the line of MPK's and SPK's housing manufacturing that use exclusively Lanc controls. I hope not.
Again I apologize for my mistake.

I have a TRV-20 with a wide angle lens that I'd be willing to part with.

It has LANC and I have the extended life battery.

Hi, I remember that I sow some pictures where you had a Sony MPK housing, do you still have it? What is the reason you've switched to ikelite and is the Sony housing also for sale?

The sony housing's electronic controls (for LANC) finally gave out. The housing is pretty old... The solders just need to be reconnected.

The ikelite weighs about 9 lbs, and the sony weighs about 20. That's probably my main reason for switching was dive travel... it's hard with the sony.

Also, I pretty much switched over to stills, and haven't shot a lot of video in the last few months.

I wonder from sjspeck's post if they are going to keep it on the "prosumer" end of the line. Since I don't know about the camera's that he posted I can't say.

I used to have a list some dang place; I have one of the more economical models w/lanc & it is a DCR TRV19, so that would put the TRV20 mentioned above right in the same company. (I'm not familiar with the 740)
Nice little camera, very reasonably priced & you can have enough room in your housing left to pack a lunch, stash your wallet, etc etc. ;)

Why would LANC only be on prosumer cameras... LANC is only a remote control cable with a fancy name, and a standardized set of commands.

I have a HC-30 which also has LANC, and it was only a $350 camera new. When I originally bought my TRV-20, it was a higher up end model, and cost about $1500 I believe. The problem with LANC, is that often to find out if the camera has LANC, you have to delve deeply into the cameras specifications to see it listed... ;)

The two DVD models are certainly the low end of their line, but the HDR-SR1 retails at about $1600 so I'm not quite sure what Sony's positioning on that one is.

No doubt, I've been unable to find it for some models on the SonyStyle site. The quickest way I've found for new cameras is to go to the review on camcorderinfo.com and scroll down to the Ports section. If you've got an older model no longer sold by Sony, one way I've found is to download the manual from Sony esupport here. They have most manuals at least as far back as the early 8MM TR series.
