As you descend, just as you will feel the pressure on your ears, your mask will also start to push on your face.

Does this happen to you regularly?

Normaly the mask will equalize via the nasal passage. I have had it happen if I begin to congest a bit mid dive in cold water.

Nevertheless the more they know before the trip the better. You never know what will be left out of the briefing.

I have a moustache, and here's another tip, if either of you have facial hair, I spread some silicone stuff, that I got from a dive shop, on the top of my moustache to try and help improve the seal. I've heard vaseline works, but haven't tried it yet. The stuff feels really gross on your top lip, but is relatively invisible to others.

Back to my mask squeeze, sometimes, when I just exhale out my nose, my mask leaks the bubbles out from various places around the seal and the squeeze does not equalize. This is when I find it easier to just pull the mask away from my face, taking the compressed flex out of the side walls and then exhaling into it. This takes all of about 3 seconds and usually cures the problems.

I've only dived to 60fsw, being a newbie, I'm assuming my procedures will work when I go deeper, otherwise I'll be shopping for a new mask with a lower volume and better seal.
