Walter once bubbled...
Richard Bong was the top scoring ace for World War II, and the top scoring American Ace of all time...

Sorry, but not even close.

While the guy from Duluth was the top scoring American, he doesn't even make the top 100. The Americans didn't get a fraction of the air time the Germans did. The Germans had 107 aces with 100 or more confirmed kills.

They include:

Hannes Gentzen: first to exceed Richtofen's 80 kills
Werner Moelder: first to score 100 kills
Herbert Rollwage: most bombers, daytime--44 of 102.
Heinz Schauder: most bomber kills, nightime, 121
Hans-Joachim Marseilles: most kills on Western front--102
Erich Hartman: 352 confirmed kills--mostly Eastern Front

Heinz Baer had 16 kills in a Me 262 before dying in one.

Schauder's plane is in the Imperial War Museum in London.

Q: what was the deepest manned submersion?

Jeff

The submersibles are rigid containers (submarines also) keeping the occupants at one atmosphere unless the hull is damaged...

I was really looking for someone to answer the Triest, holding the record for over thirty years. The Japanese beat the record by several feet more recently...

Q: What was the depth achieved during the record breaking dive?

The old avatar was kinda funny, the new one is a misterious one. Changing your mood? Or just growing out of that snowman?
Won't we see your jokes any more? :boom:

Walter's question was:

"Who was the #1 American Ace of WWI?"

Not, who was the highest scoring Ace of WWI?

Your answer is incorrect.

Sorry, I can't answer for Amanda, but I like her new Avatar.

Can you name 3 of the 18 members of the Mustang (Ford) Hall of Fame?
