Sounds like a lawyer preying on a family's grief.

Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about.

The family hired the lawyer to assert their claims. And lawyers in this area of law often work on a contingent fee basis, meaning no recovery, no fee. So if the case goes nowhere, the lawyer does not get paid. Whether the family paid the lawyer a modest fee to file the case (and preserve the statute of limitations) or whether the lawyer did it on a contingent fee basis, the lawyer is serving his or her clients, not "preying" on them. Sheesh.
