Waikiki and car-less

Aloha-

Most dive operators on Oahu do pick-ups in Waikiki at no extra charge. So it should be fairly painless to get a ride to and from the boat harbor. No need to rent a car to go diving here.

I agree with Cdiver2 - do a search on the net and TALK to a FEW companies. Find one whose dive site schedule matches your needs and go from there.

As a dive industry professional here on Oahu- I see names of many companies noted above in this thread~ some have a great reputation - some don't. Please do your due diligence prior to booking. I would hate to see another post about a bad dive experience/operator, when the diving here on Oahu is truly top notch!

I did reeftrekkers last week, and wouldn't recommend them. First, my SO wasn't allowed to dive because he was honest on his form and put that he had heart problems. We were never told he had to have written doctor's certificate and they wouldn't refund his money (He was cleared by doc's and we had just left a week's diving in Palau.)

Then, they never asked for C-cards!!!! The boat was packed, the divemasters didn't seem very experienced. (they ran out of air before our guys did). Our DM took his camera and seemed more interested in his diving than us. I saw that several people did no safety stop, and the dive sites sucked.

I think everyone that works Honolulu picks up at the hotel, kinda have to to keep up with the rest.....I have been diving with a few operations here, mostly to see who I would want to work for on the side and have seen very good and very bad. See in Sea has been treating me right as well as taking great care of my GF in her learning curve. In fact I am doing my IDC with them starting next week. Only down side is they do share a dive boat with a couple of other operators but it's not a true cattle boat. 808-528-2311

I've dove with DiveOahu a few times and had nothing but good experiences. Another good one is South Seas Aquatics ( http://www.ssahawaii.com/ ). Had some good experiences with them also.

Hi! I'm back...sorry not to get to this sooner.

Yes, the dives ops will pick you up and take you back home as an included service (nothing is really for free ). You know, I can't really come up with any op that won't pick you up. Who ever you choose to dive with will arrange a pick up time and location and will bring you back to your hotels after the dives.

Two bucks but you can get a transfer so it's only realy a buck each way! Damn fine deal! Waikiki to the north shore for a dollar! Our tax dollars at work......

'The Bus' on Oahu is now $2 a ride but is not very scuba gear friendly. I used Captain Bruce. The guy on the phone was nice (not so other operators), pick up was on time. They own/operate their own boat and staff were fun and professional. Hot shower, lots of food and drinks included and a discount for multiple days was offered. Dive sites were on the west side so the ride was 45 minutes to/from. I would dive with them again. http://www.captainbruce.com/
