I rigged mine by removing the strap and running cord under the pins. If you leave the rubber surround on it, you have sort of double redundancy, the loops will hold the rubber on, hence the unit on, even if both pins break, althought the chance of BOTH of these VERY robust pins breaking at once is very unlikely.
Use two seperate loops of Bungee
