Im not a big fan of vortex springs. Just about every time I have been there its packed with high school kids. I am more of a Morrison Springs fan which is not far from Vortex Its a pretty good dive and not as busy of a place as vortex is.

Water will be too cold this weekend for high school kids to get in it. They won't be there until later in the spring.

BTW... like the UnderDog pic :)

True, but morrison has an advantage it is free to dive just gotta bring everything you will need to dive

thats a big advantage. Plus Vortex just sucks anyways.

Morrison isn't as reliable, visibility there relies largely on river level - the cavern is nearly always clear though... Vortex pumps tannick water back down stream, keeping the basin blue - although its not always 'clear' with debri getting kicked up and the loads of fish poop in the water from the excessive amounts of carp they keep adding to eat the hydrilla :)

Not talking down Morrison, its one of my favorite springs, much more pristine than Vortex. Easy access, no admission fees, and the potential for an absolutely beautiful dive are all there. Be sure to bring a dive flag, boaters are allowed to launch there now and boating traffic has gotten much worse.
