I realize I don't understand the "ways of the south", but how is it possible that a person has any say on who pays or doesn't pay for the use of a facility no longer owned by him?

Thanks, now that we know who you are we can appreciate your concerns. Just for your information we love Connie very dearly, and we have great respect for her husband and her father. And don't forget the hardworking daughter - we care for her too. But because we love someone we don't have to always agree with them.

I was a witness to your recent encounter with Connie at Sally's in Ponce de Leon. The cold shoulder you and table of four gave her was astonishing. To her as well as the folks I was with and me.

Doc - Harold had an albatross - a money making proposition and folks wouldn't leave him alone - They were systematically bankrupting him. He sold the thing - then he went home, tried for another venture, paid his fines and now he sits on his patio and relaxes while the rest of the world works. To quote Connie "living well is the best revenge."

The only times that I would ever dream of a transaction in the millions is a watch I bought in Italy and dinner in Turkey. I think I was into that one for 42 million Lira. I have no idea how you fellows do those types of bartering but my dinner only affected me. Your transaction may be petty to you but it hits all of us hard that are trying to give our customers the best for their bucks.

We're totally afraid that your feud will make your beloved spring yet another entry on the endangered species list - for us at least.

And to quote Forrest Gump -"That's all I have to say about that!"

Since you are in South Florida I guess I won't see you this weekend but maybe we'll see Connie. And my shoulder is not cold - Right now it just hurts because I banged it into an open cabinet door.

Children, children, children......................

To the current owners of the Vortex Springs business and to Doc and his family.......

You guys better get your differences settled or we are just going to lose another spring to diving. I can't IMAGINE how a sales contract could get so confused, so poorly written, and so convoluted that the current state of affairs could exist.

My store has been using this property and this business since our first day in business. This needs to be settled and settled fast.

Phil Ellis
For some reason I dont think your point will get across. But I agree with you fully. One day I will make it into your shop with Paige.

Thanks for the link, interesting read.

yeah.. it is...

I'm not 100% sure who was the first to use it, but Sam Miller not even willing to research it to see if Doc was a viable candidate for the first creator of the flag was just not the act of a true historial trying to get the story right.

I don't have a fight in this, but It made me think that whatever book is published isn't worth the paper its printed on and definatey not worth me buying.

I mean whats the point of pubishing a book of 'half facts'. If we want to read that, you can read those "National Enquirer" type tabloid magazines.

Name calling does not display this nice guy. I do not seek to "get far", I was looking for information...

Trolling is descriptive of posting designed to elicit a gut response from others. Your first post was as follows:

U need to confirm so called facts!
SCUBA clubs would be a way to spread the word that Doc wants to say thanks to all the loyal regular divers & instructors who have paid to dive time & time again during the years (35) he owned Vortex Spring.
Thank you is good.
Doc has retired, no dive clubs, not one!
The Free diving is simply diving for the certified diver for FREE.
Just drive into the gate marked Dockery Manor. Don't stop at the dive shop. There is no reason to. Park on the Manor side and dive for a day.
Be sure to have your gear and air. Dive all day or just one dive for FREE!

No Cost will not last forever so don't miss out

No information was sought (information was given) and it was pretty direct for a first post from someone that is not known. This was posted in a thread about the new management making changes for the positive future of diving at the spring. Your post was a blatant advertisement against the tone and purpose of the thread - hence a troll. If you feel slighted, I'm sorry.

I miss the old days at the spring (I've only been diving there for five years). I have told Doc how much I appreciate what he has done for us at the spring. I have enjoyed the family running the business. All that is fine, but let's face facts, things just went down hill for diving the last couple years. Prices too high, product not at the top of its game. Now we have a fresh start to get things back to what they were. The best thing for diving, now that change has taken place, is not to have this feud. If the parties involved are truly interested in good for divers, they will stop the feud and listen to what is said here - work together.

So speaks the wise hole of Yoda.

that makes sense as I heard that it was going up from $32 to close to $40 at one time more recently.

I figured at that price it was a simple decision as whether to go or not.

Doc, since you're here now... You should go take a look at the threads about who created the dive flag :D
Mike, Doc here! I'm new at this and can't find the article you speak of, also I post answers for all of the concerned posters but they somehow get lost. I'll try to do better. Doc

Hey, Doc, you just need to click on this link: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/non-diving-related-stuff/159447-scuba-symbol-owned-anyone.html and it'll take you to another thread like this one, about the dive flag. There's a big debate over its origin with a lot of people backing you up. I may not agree with some of the things that are going on with Vortex, but if you did (and I have no reason to believe you didn't) create the dive flag, I'd love to see you given the proper credit for it, instead of it going to someone else.
