Hey Everyone,

I'm considering putting together a visual tank inspection course over this winter. I'd just like to see if there is any interest before I start looking at specific dates, finding a classroom, etc. It will probably be in the Naperville/Aurora area. So if you're sick of paying a dive store to VIP your tanks every year, let me know if you'd be interested in this class.

I am interested, depending on cost. Would this be a single day on a weekend?

I would have a interest. Can't beat the location.
I do have a question.
Who will fill tanks in the Naperville area that don't have the " Visual Inspection Plus " test tag on a tank ?
Thanks, Jim Breslin

No dive store will fill a tank without the visual inspection sticker on it. Good thing that I include 5 of them with the student materials. If you take (and pass) the class with me and need to buy more, I can get them for you.

I think I stated my question wrong.
Who in the Chicago area will fill tanks that only have a vis tag and not the new Vis plus tag.
Isn't the plus portion of the test an electrical current test ?
Thanks, Jim Breslin

The plus portion is referring to the eddy test for aluminum tanks. The eddy test is optional and any dive store can fill tanks without the eddy test.

In other words, the visual "plus" is a supplement to the visual inspection. Now a dive store can have their own store policy about filling aluminum tanks with only the "plus". But from an industry aspect, the eddy test isn't required.

Forgive my lack of knowledge....

What is the difference between PSI and TDI visual class and certification?

Is TDI cert. recognized in the same manner as PSI one in the industry?

They are both recognized the same. PSI is dedicated to the cylinder inspection industry wereas TDI also offers diver level courses. I did my initial cylinder inspection course through PSI and my instructor level course through TDI. Both agencies are similiar in content and procedures for the cylinder inspection course.
