I guess I run a vintage steel 72 rescue center now.

A few months back a friend of mine gave me a 1974 USD 72 in excellent shape. I had it hydroed and it passed with flying colors.
Just yesterday another friend of mine gave me a 1959 USD complete with a Pico Blvd. L.A. CAL. address and a 1/2" pipe thread J-valve. I looked inside and it's pristine, and it's not coated. The outside is rusted to hell but not pitted. I'll blast it then take it in for hydro and see how it does. I'll bet it passes.
I'll need some leads as to what to do with a service with the valve, parts availability and such.
This is the first 1/2" that has been given to me. It has the top twist valve.

I have 7 steel 72's now. Even if I have 50 of them some day it won't be enough.

So please don't toss those old 72's,
drop them off at my 72 rescue center. We'll take all your sick or unwanted old steel 72's. :D

I have 5 72s myself. I'll be picking up 3 more next month. The 72 is my favorite tank.

I'm getting another 72 myself. I'll be making a set of IDs out of them. One Hundred Forty CUFT of air in a light package should work nicely. Maybe I can drop some lead too!:D

This tank has never had a second hydro! I don't think the owner wants to part with it, I just figured you wanted to see some tank porn.

Do you have any interest in tanks with liners etc? I've got one that looks to be in okay shape, but the hydro guy apparently didn't want to mess with it and sent it back. It might be trashed on the inside, but I had a couple other guys look at it and they thought it looked okay.

If they're lined and nobody will hydro them then probably not for trying to restore for diving, but I'd want to at least look at it.
But I'm thinking about taking condemned tanks and cutting a few access holes around the tank with my plasma cutter (similar to how they cut holes in cleaned wrecks) and make octopuss condos out of them. I'd like to start a condemned steel cylinder artificial reef up in my area.

So either way, yes I'll take it. It will get a new life one way or the other.

Most of the time all the valve needs is to be disassembled and cleaned. The teflon seals are generic so they are available. I have several 1/2" valve in use with all original parts except for the seals. If they operate easily just replace the burst disc and have fun.
