I found my King Athletic Goods catalog with the man on the cover. Also the page with your maker. They sold King Neptune and GSD products. I don't know if Lloyd was part owner or not.....

As you know I have most of the US manufactures catalogs which I bound the same year the product was marketed.

I recall the King Neptune products very well, but could only find one catalog in my collection for King Neptune which was for 1970...no other years...what year is yours?

RE Sea bed marker and signal;
2 models (page 11)
*** 8050 basic model
*** 8055 adjustable model (?)
No prices listed

Siska=It did not have a light on the basic or the adjustable

US Diver- What the heck is GSD? and waht does it have to do with King Neptune products?

Hello Sam, there is no date on it. I assume you don't have one becasue the back cover says printed in Japan. I have a GSD yellow handle knife and weight belt with the round weights. They are plastic coated blue, yellow and red centers. 1970's funk all the way.

GSD are the founders Gatti,Stradella,and Danielle in the 1970and 80's. att are a reg foto's GSD S 300.jpgGSD SPINNAKER B.jpgGSD ITALY.jpg

Mike,
I have the one King Neptune catalog --It is bound with all the other 1970 catalogs...My question is how many years was King Neptune in business?

I suspect only one year 1970. It was rather cheeply made and either copies or rebrands from other companies previous years products.

Your guess is probably right one year 1970. I know someone that thinks those GSD S-300 regs are one of the best regs out there.

I have a GSD-S-300, it is an excellent pilot valve regulator, but the mustache cup air deflector is a bit lame.

Would some one please clue me in?

What is the relationship between King Neptune and GDS?

Mike, Were they listed in your catalog? They weren't in mine, which was for certain dated 1970.
If they were in your catalog then the product had at least a two year life or possibly more.

Hello Sam,yes the catalog has King Neptune and GSD products. The company was King Athletic Goods Corporation,2615 West Hunting Park Ave,Philadelphia,Penn.

I keep a close eye on eBay and I've noted a UK connection in the case of King Neptune fins:

The full-foot fin images above bears the legend "Lloyd Bridges: King Neptune TARPON No.8083" embossed on the top of the foot pocket and "Made in England" embossed on the sole.

The above images show the tops and bottoms of Britmarine Model A fins, which were sold between the mid-1960s and the mid-1970s. The King Neptune fins were designed for the American market, while the Britmarine Model As were intended for British and European markets. The manufacturers, Haffenden of Sandwich in Kent, not only made their "own-label" fins at the time, marketed under the trade name "Britmarine", but also made similar models when commissioned by the likes of Woolworths. I have a pair of Britmarine Model As from that period and they have retained their blade flexibility as well as their soft, comfortable foot pockets. Haffenden of Sandwich, Kent, were makers of moulded rubber products, especially swimcaps. I don't think they're in business now.

As for GSD of Recco, yes, I have a 1978 Tillbrook (trading under the brand name Spartan) catalogue featuring GSD Samoa full-foot fins in yellow and black. I have a pair of black Samoas and they're very comfortable, form-fitting fins.

Same address....but... NO GSD regulators! How did the regulators become intwined with the other King Neptune products? Is there a page I am missing? or perhaps a seperate sheet?

The catalog does list some GSD items--knives,fins etc
