Does such a thing exist? I'm looking to get a bpw and something like this would be really useful to get an idea of how it works.

Thanks
James

Thanks for that, I've taken a look, but these are for transpac xt which is more like a standard jacket BCD in terms of donning it as far as I can see. I am looking for a vid of donning a simple one piece harness.

Thanks
James

It's actually easier in water and out. On the surface you just put it on like any other BC. Underwater over the head is easiest for me horizontally but you can also do it the conventional way like a jacket.

That's interesting, I'm looking at getting this http://www.xdeep.eu/zeos-dir-harness-pr-5.html but after doing the whole doffing donning gear and weight belt on the surface for dry suit certification, I began to wonder how much of a pain it would be stepping into a harness, but does it undo somewhat like a jacket (sorry if this is a stupid question!) I am struggling to see the release. Again donning on the boat, does it just go on similar to a jacket BCD or need stepping into.

Thanks!

You do not step into it. The crotch strap comes undone when you release the buckle on the waist belt. You then put the unit on. Pull the strap up between your legs, slide the crotch strap loop onto the waist belt, then buckle the waist belt. Then just slide the loop into position in the middle. The buckle is usually offset to one side a few inches so the strap does not interfere with it's operation.

Many of the crotch straps have a buckle in the front. One end is one the loop over the waist belt and the othere on the crotch strap. I find this type easier to use. It is not DIR but I don't do wrecks or caves so I don't really care.

I have thought from time to time about adding one like that but my concern is setting a tank on the buckle and crushing it or losing it somehow and not being able to use the strap. It's one of those IF it can happen at some point it'll happen to me deals. Why I usually carry enough gear to outfit two divers at least. When I don't some little thing that may not be essential but still nice to have ends up missing. Have learned to do what I can to reduce that risk.

Aha this makes more sense now, doesn't really sound any more complicated than a jacket BCD and potentially simpler with less clutter, and no chest strap to gurrot myself on!

By jove man you've got it! It is much less clutter and you fit it to you. Not you TRYING to fit into a mfg's idea of what size you are.
