Another question...if my friend ends up bringing her kids...will they actually be able to get any toofs snorkeling? They are 8 and good on the surface but I doubt that they have much if any breath-hold dive ability. May I assume that we pretty much need to go waaaaay far out to see teef?

The teeth are mostly in 15 to 17 feet of water ... a kid can free dive that ... but vis could be a problem. Yes it is like about as far out as you go on this coast.

These kids probably can't free dive more than 4-6 feet. I just didn't want to promise them that they personally could find teeth. I'll just give them what I find. :)

Their snorkeling will just be for the fun of it with their mom. If they come...it would be really good for them, fingers crossed that her STBX cooperates.

I have one kid that freedives 20' to 25' all the time and one who can only freedive to 8 to 10'. I think they will be fine I will stay with them when they are freediving. But when I am in the water with tanks they know the rules so they will play in the surf really close by everyone else. I have never been so I don't know what I am getting into, If it's not safe for kids I will forgo diving myself and stay with my kids to make sure they are safe playing in the surf.

Walter:
Bring a colander and let them sift for teeth in the surf zone. A screen box would be better, but a colander will work.

Really good idea thanks Walter:D

Ok. I'm definitely in on this one. Got the time off work to head over to the other coast for a long weekend!

I'll be heading up from Englewood Saturday morning.

I saw directions were already posted, but I wonder if someone could provide the actual address, so I can just punch it into the GPS?

Folks planning on meeting at 8am?

Are there any special "tools" or whatever that are needed to do this? I've never been "toof hunting" before so if some of the seasoned pro's could share with this noob, I'd appreciate it.

I'll bring some chicken and gatorade.

Great idea; that could keep them occupied for hours!

This is in ankle to knee deep water, at the bottom of that first step down.

Thanks. Sounds like lots of fun for them...I would have loved that when I was their age!

The kids had a very dangerous and scary snorkeling "episode" with their father recently...grumble grumble grumble...their mom won't let them snorkel without PFDs now. They haven't been in the water since the incident and I hope they have recovered emotionally from it.
