Hello From Mn!

I am heading to Florida next week and I would love to be able to snorkel for a sharks tooth that is greater than 1"!!

I have snorkeled a couple times before - and have found very small teeth off the beach of Englewood, but I am going to spend a day off the Venice area.

IF anyone can respond with any info on my best chance to find a 2 or 3" tooth - that would make my entire trip so memorable!

Is it from storms - as I have had great snorkeling even a few weeks earlier in the past.

What do you think or how do you think my best chance would be on getting a "keeper" for a necklace?

To have a decent chance of finding a big one, you need to be in a minimum of 15' of water. 20'-25' is better, but too far to get out to from the beach. With vis at a minimum (reports last weekend were 0), chances are about nil with the limited bottom time.

The visability at Venice Beach is usually poor. Once in a while you get viz above 10 ft or so. Walter dives there a lot. In all the times I've dived there, the viz has never been above 6 ft. You should take your mask and snorkel just in case, but plan on finding sharks teeth on the beach. You probably will not find any Megs there, but what the heck, you should have fun.
