Scooping on Venice beach is all but dead now. Over 200 scoops and not one single small part of a tooth since the beach refurb. Gonna take several storms and a lot of help from Mother Nature to fix that. There is a lot more beach tho :(((
 
Shhhhh, don't tell anyone, but you can do some awesome beach tooth hunting on Manasota Key. It's sad to see what the condo-commandos have dictated be done to Venice, but that hasn't happened yet on Manasota. Though small, you can find a couple hundred walking the beach on Manasota just looking through the broken shell beds. After storms, I've found a few meg frags, fossilized turtle shell frags, and the usual boneyard stuff.
