Hi all! Wetsuit question for you experts on the internet!

I have a brand new 5mm Henderson Themoprene Pro. I love the suit, but only have one complaint- there's no velcro cover! On all my other suits, there's a small flap of fabric to cover the neck velcro and keep it from catching on the suit. My Bare suits always have one, but this suit does not.
Unfortunately, this means that the velcro will grab the fabric inside the suit as I take it on and off, and cause piling. Does anyone have a solution for covering this velcro to keep it from grabbing the suit as you don? I was considering taking the suit to a seamstress to sew some kind of cover on, but not sure if this has been done before, or if anyone has suggestions.

Thanks all!

I have several Henderson suits and yeah, it would be nice if they had a velcro cover. But I've found that the small amount of pilling doesn't really impact the lifespan of the suit.

One thing I do is to keep the velcro tab attached to the other side of the neck whenever I can. For example, when I put my suit on but keep the top off as I'm waiting or when I pull the top of my suit down to cool off on deck, etc., I attach the velcro tab to its mating surface so that it doesn't flap around and attach itself to the inside of the suit. That seems to help somewhat. But overall, I find that my suit wears out before the velcro becomes an issue. Your mileage may vary depending on how much diving you do.

My solution was to purchase some loop side off of Amazon and cut it to size. I fold back half when sealing.

Linking to Amazon isn't working but if you put in the following you will see what I used:

1.5" Black SEW-ON Hook and Loop Fastener - Loop Side ONLY - 1 Yard

There is a type of velcro that the hook side will not grab the neoprene, it will only grab the loop side.....if you ate going to take your suit to a seamstress, have them replace the current velcro with some of the stuff I mentioned instead.

That's great. How did you attach it? Did you sew it yourself or take it to a seamstress?

I just cut the loop side to the size of the hook size on the wetsuit and let the velcro do the work. I left it a bit longer so it has a little "tab" to grab when pulling back half way.

Here is a photo I just took to give you an idea:

That’s super helpful. Will order and replicate - thanks!
