I know a guy on Utila that guarantees you'll see a Whale Shark. Regular weekly rates apply, but you also throw down for a $1,000 Whale Shark Guarantee. He guarantees you will have a Whale Shark to snorkel with or your $1000 guarantee money will be refunded at the end of the week.

what a deal, no risk to them. You pay normal to dive. If you get lucky and see a whale shark they get $1000 bonus. Now if all your diving was free if you didn't see any, that would be different.

Thank you for articulating that point. It was just what I was thinking, but didn't know how to phrase it. It seems to me there should be more of a risk for BOTH parties!

Okay then. Two SB members got the little joke. ;)

I was wondering, but then I've seen people sell stupider things...

Yeah, well, sure it was a joke, but it does bring up a point.

People pay for canned Shark dive rodeo/feeds.

How much would you throw down (extra, beyond the standard week rate) for an encounter on Wednesday afternoon- a snorkel with a Whale Shark?

$200, more? I mean, just supposing?

Hi All

Hi Doc, there are many people who want to see Whale Sharks and yes some do and have spent a fortune trying to do so, I had one guy stay with me he had been to Australia, Maldives, Djibouti and other places in the Whale Shark high season and never seen one, he told me he thinks he had spent approx $50,000 over the years to try and see one, he came here just on a diving vacation not in Whale Shark season and did not expect to see one, just a diving vacation, guess what, he saw one the first day.

It is impossible to tell exactly when they are coming, we know certain times of the year there is a better chance, but we do bump into them all year round.

Ohh and by the way Doc, I would happily offer the deal you joked about LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Thanks everyone for the tips. I know that I just have to make the trip and hope for the best. There are no guarantees!
Were those pantyhose sheer or extrasupport hose?
