Thanks for the info. This is going to be one hell of a dive when it finally goes down.

You can probably check with ScubaShack out of P'Cola as well. Dive Pros and MBT Divers can probably get you on a boat, but it will be someone else's since they don't have their own from what I understand - both of these shops are in Pensacola as well.

A bit longer of a trip, but I would suspect that some of the Destin charters will be getting to the Oriskany as well. Stone here at ScubaBoard has a boat and launches in/near Destin and is currently rigging his boat with a larger fuel cell to get to the Oriskany with more of a fuel reserve(dunno if he is interested in sticking around for a lengthy venture into the ship though - try PM'n him). I wouldn't think it would be too much longer for people coming out of Orange Beach/Gulf Shores(AL) to get out to the Oriskany as well.

You're correct on the Gulf Shores angle. It's going to be sunk equidistant between Pensacola and Gulf Shores...maybe Gary's Gulf Divers will be out there pretty soon. Off topic: anyone dove with Gary's?

I haven't yet, his prices seem great though - apparently they just got a new boat too.

I normally go through my local shop in Daphne, AL(Underwater Works) and he goes through Rusty(Gulf Diver).

Below rec depths...story of my life!

The site is SE of Pensacola, and would be more equidistant between PCOLA - Destin; it will be a longer ride from AL.

I disagree with the ride out of Alabama bein longer.Shes gonna be 22 out of the Pensacola pass and 29 out of perdido pass, but as you might know our marinas are close to the pass where when you dive out of Pensacola you have a little ride before you even get out the pass.

True. The distance from the pass is different being the bearing is about 133 from PCOLA. But, considering the extra ride through the IC the total distance is about the same.
It might come into play when it is ****ty offshore though - then every mile to the pass counts :)

Any chance they'd leave a few planes on that baby? :eyebrow:
