I dont wanna solo dive at this point but I sure do wish my buddys would slow down so I can actually SEE things. After the dives I always ask did you seeeee that??? Its always no. but sometimes I feel like my slow finning is holding ppl back specially if we dive in a group. I am very comfy in my fins tho, dem ppl just making me work hard lol

Divers ... especially newer ones ... typically speed along for a few reasons.

First, because they're overweighted ... and if they slow down they'll sink like a rock.

Second, because they're eager to see everything ... so much so that they zip right past most of it without seeing it at all.

Finally, because when they purchased their fins the salesperson sold them on the basis of how fast they'll make you go ... and those are usually the most expensive models, so they're trying to get their money's worth.

Tell your dive buddies before the dive that you want to go slow and look at things. Show them a signal that means "slow down" and use it during the dive. If that doesn't work, you need to find more compatible dive buddies.

If you all will go to "the scubastop" today you'll see what I'm talking about with long hoses on poser-kits, look at all those danglies and hose on the elite divers over there

pictures tell a thousand words, don't they

key words= mer trim

I actually went to that site and looked at that picture. That person looks pretty squared away to me. The only loose cord it for their light, and I can't imagine using it any other way without some slack in it.

You've picked a really bad example here, and your hatred for anything DIR or GUE is really clouding your sense of judgement. And frankly, it's getting a bit old.

so all the hoses didn't bother you a bit. and once again I didn't bring up any org. you did. I was useing this as an example.

and quit calling me "frankly"

Which picture are you guys looking at? The ones that show up on the home page change every time I refresh.

Your lack of using "DIR" or "GUE" is transparent. So don't hide behind it.

Nope. That person looks pretty good. That "hose" you are looking at is a light cord. Remember, you do need "hoses" to breath from. It's part of scuba diving. Unless, of course, the solo diving gods like yourself have found a new way to breath underwater.

In all fairness, If you go to 1brando (on the same site) If this gent tucked his argon hose under his shoulder harness he would look just like me.( except for the nice camera)

"All the hoses" lol.. I wonder which hose he'd like her to get rid of.. the backup regulator, the drysuit inflator, or the SPG hose? ;)

Ah, now I get it. You want to look like a GUE instructor! Besides having all the right equipment, there's still a bit more in the mix that you'll need to know!

One last thing, (before this gets even more stupid), while everyone might not be able to have their equipment so that you consider it "perfect", at least in the pictures you reference they are making an attempt to do so. In fact, except for a little "looseness" in the cord, that person looks pretty darn good.

Now compare your hated DIR and GUE pictures to the training agencies that you so lovingly refer to, and look at what is produced from them. Tell me then who is making the effort to perfect the diving experience.

You've got your priorities mixed up.
