ScubaTwo:I dont wanna solo dive at this point but I sure do wish my buddys would slow down so I can actually SEE things. After the dives I always ask did you seeeee that??? Its always no. but sometimes I feel like my slow finning is holding ppl back specially if we dive in a group. I am very comfy in my fins tho, dem ppl just making me work hard lol
Divers ... especially newer ones ... typically speed along for a few reasons.
First, because they're overweighted ... and if they slow down they'll sink like a rock.
Second, because they're eager to see everything ... so much so that they zip right past most of it without seeing it at all.
Finally, because when they purchased their fins the salesperson sold them on the basis of how fast they'll make you go ... and those are usually the most expensive models, so they're trying to get their money's worth.
Tell your dive buddies before the dive that you want to go slow and look at things. Show them a signal that means "slow down" and use it during the dive. If that doesn't work, you need to find more compatible dive buddies.
