If Cooper hoses are so dangerous, why does the US Navy use them for their UBAs?

@Borebrush - meaning, spec'ed for profitability for the lowest bidder. Dude, we've beaten this horse to death. Use Coopers if you want.

Lets be clear, I didn't ask anyone for opinions. My responses were directed towards the OP in case they had not considered those points. Otherwise, drive on by.

BTW, everything is priced for profitability and built to some sort of design spec, literally.

I give up. Would be great if just someone responds with some actual data........
Good luck getting anything like that from some of this crowd. Seems the more one asks direct questions (of some folks around here to back up their 'position'), the less response one gets. Funny, not, that.

The interior liner delaminates over time and will close the inhale hose. Going vertical on a 155 kept mine breathable. Its not easy to spot before a dive.

Thanks very much. That is the kind of feedback I was looking for. Sticking with the new old stock Mk 16 hoses I found on eBay.

Could it be that there are military grade cooper hoses as used by USN NEDU.

And commercial grade cooper hoses which look similar and are marked "not for underwater use".

As far as I know, Cooper hoses have never been authorized on Mk16’s and I’m pretty sure no one, at least US forces, still use Mk15’s. Mk15’s (adopted in 1980-ish) were the units seen with Cooper hoses and fairly certain they were a maintenance item replaced on schedule.

Didn't the Ouraboros use them? If I remember right a company in the Netherlands took over support from VR so might be worth asking them about long term experience with Coopers.

I just use rubber hoses on my Mk15 and I've never really had any issues. I can't recall where they came from, I think they were Jetsam hoses off a KISS.
