[h=3]US Diver and JYC/John Denver fans...[/h]John Denver died in an experimental aircraft 15 years ago today October 12th off the coast of SoCal

One of his almost forgotten songs is about JYCs ship the Calypso..

"Calypso"

To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand

Aye, calypso, the places you’ve been to
The things that you’ve shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well

Like the dolphin who guides you
You bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide
And free as the wind-swell
Joyful and loving in letting it be

Aye, calypso, the places you’ve been to
The things that you’ve shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well

Aye, calypso, the places you’ve been to
The things that you’ve shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well

Words and music by John Denver

I really enjoy his music and that song specifically. John Denver was one of the few people that I would have truly like to have met along with Cousteau. I miss the song writer, the Captain and the Ship. Thanks for reminding us.

15 years, wow, thanks for the reminder.

That song has had a spot on my MP3 player for a longtime. Youtube has a video to MP3 converter. Just find the song you want and use the converter to convert it and download it.

John Denver was a good person. N

I recall as a kid watching that specific episode documenting his travels with the JYC team..... :depressed:
