Hummm, didn't think about the parking time limit, thats a good point.

As time progresses it seems that the biggest dynamic question mark is Karen. Looks like the surf should be good the first couple days of Oct. in the area, I will be arriving that weekend. I wonder with the shallowness of the beach dives (even if she stays offshore, and just pumps long period swell) would kill vis for a couple days.?

No time limit on parking north of Sunrise as posted above, just get outtathere by 9 p.m. It is the most popular kayak/dive and kayak/fish site in Broward and I dive it regularly.

Sorry, my crystal ball is broken, can't advise on vis. I'd just take my chances and go for it unless the seas are up. You need to fill out your profile by the way...I don't know where you are from but, let's face it, our "bad vis days" could still be better than your worst vis days. :)

I just saw that in another post, any specific area or launch point, reef location?
My dad hangs out at the beach in LBTS at El Prado & El Mar (just a bit North of Commercial Blvd). I asked him today if he ever see's kayak divers launching and he said that he does see them launch from there. He said that nobody has been bothering them about launching. He did not know whether it is legal/illegal...just that they launch there frequently. You still have to deal with the 2 hour limit on the meters. If it were me and I wanted to dive there I would just go. If you get chased off or ticketed then you either need to give it up or launch before sunrise :D

As for reef location... there is reef all over this area. Just paddle out and look over the side. You really don't have to have coordinates. There is a nice ledge just a bit farther out than the pier. On an average vis day you can look over the side of the kayak and see the depth drop off. Just hop in the water and snorkel for a minute to verify that it is something you want to tank dive on.

I launch my kayak a mile North of there.
Hope this helps.

Well, looks like its a go since the two ladies at sea have been vanquished by the shear. Hopefully the winds will slow down by early next week, till then guess we'll be surfin'. I also forgot to ask for advise on local tank rentals in the area....

Plenty of local tank rentals, whatever is closest to where you are staying is probably good enough if you are simply diving compressed air. Without knowing where you are staying it's hard to recommend a good shop.
