uploaded C-Card accepted?

I have had a digitized copy of my 20 year old open water certification stored on my IPOD accepted in a few countries now. Most people have never even heard of the IDEA agency, but still accepted the card. I am not sure if IDEA still exists; my LDS is now PADI, and I have my cards in my dive bag and never have any problems.

When driving on a cruise last year I left y c-card at home. The cruise line got a print for me. Since then I have made photocopies of everything and laminated them. I also have pics on my phone off then as well. Padi, SSI and Naui all have online look ups. I actually carry one of my log books now.
