LobstaMan:
Anyone ever run across this before?

Off Nantasket Beach this afternoon I saw a group of four divers in a very small boat (15-18 feet if that) anchored only about 100 yds off the section of the beach where the private homes are located(not the old MDC area). I trained my binoculars on them and observed no tanks or BC's, but what appeared to be a compressor with long yellow hoses connected to it.

I observed them for some time and they did not pick up anchor or surface with anything. Also, it seemed that only two divers were in the water at one time. Someone was always fussing with the yellow hoses.

Ever seen this before and what are your thougths on what they were doing. I've never seen any divers here before in such shallow water and so close to the beach. I'm stumped.

It was the MSP dive team stealing lobster. :11: :eyebrow: ;)

Man, I knew it... will they stop at nothing?!? :eyebrow:

Well cripes, last time they poached they were questioned by busy-bodies on shore. Seems only right they would hookah for their ill gotten gains. :eyebrow:

How close to shore is Strawberry Ledge? These divers were real close w/i 100 to 150 yds max. That thought did cross my mind, but I thought the Ledge was farther offshore than that. I'm sure they weren't up to anything illegal or illicit, robotic lobstrosities aside.

they,re propably where looking for clams,peace ;)

That's be my guess if there's no lobster where they were diving. As an aside, two years ago I came across two guys using one of those rigs during mini-season on a shallow reef in about 20-30 feet of water. I spoke to them afterwards at the dock as they came in right begind us. They loved the thing as they could stay down for a few hours and got tanks off their backs.

Yeah, that might be it. It was up by the Kenberma section of Hull, but I didn't notice any feature that resembled a hill in the area. If the map/chart was bigger and named streets, I could tell you definitely. The Ledge is closer to shore than I thought.
