Rick - I'm glad to hear you liked the underwear! I also have found that here in BC the MK3 has been extremely warm. I am having a size larger sent, let me know how you make out!

Until the next dive,

Tyler

Well, as I posted elsewhere, I broke down and bought a used DUI 400g Thinsulate jumpsuit, and I now have four dives on it.

All I can say is that I wish I had been willing to do this a lot earlier. Out of four dives, I've been cold once, and that was at the end of 67 minutes in 48 degree water, with nothing more vigorous than a modified frog kick, and a lot of hovering and admiring critters. And I wasn't shivering, just felt cold. Less than an hour later, I was ready to go back in the water and do another 45 minute dive (with a scooter, so even less exertion) and come out warm.

I'm impressed.

Imagine if you had gotten a new 400g. I am almost wishing you had access to the Pinnacle Merino undergarment, which is supposedly a bit warmer still.

Thanks, Tyler. Good talking to you on the phone. Hope I can make the fit work for me.

Lynne, glad you're now staying warm. Gives a fella' hope...:D

Ahhh, not a demo then. The demo one I tried was warm, but not THAT warm.

Rick, I will echo your comments on the White's Mk3; they are the warmest undies I've worn. I find myself shedding layers despite 45 degree F water, attempting to find (cool enough) comfort.

The DUI 400g undies are not quite as warm, although pretty close. However, there is no comparison for me in mobility between the Mk3 and the 400g, the Mk3 is far more flexible.

I haven't had your issues regarding flexibility, probabally because it's under a Fusion, heh heh. Although now that the rest of me is warm at last, I can feel how cold my feet are! I'm gonna take Jeff's suggestion and try some Sorel boot liners.

All the best, James

My Pinnacle non-Merino is easily as warm as the Weezle Extreme (not the plus). The Merino suit looks to be every bit as warm as the Extreme Plus, and actually has more insulative value that the DUI 400g...The only reason I am probably going with the Weezle is because I can wash it.

On Pinnacle's site, they state the Merino is machine washable. I've tried it on and its very nice. I bought one this week along with Freedom drysuit, so I'm very anxious to try them out in mass. bay! :slick:

The Merino is, it's the Thinsulate that is the issue. Funny thing is they even say that's washable, but just don't plan on it doing it's job for long. There are many, many threads on here and other boards, especially The Deco Stop, regarding the amazing properties of Thinsulate but the dreadfull things washing does to it.

*UPDATE*

Well, I found a local seamstress that would attempt to cut back the Whites Mk3 XL if needed, and last night I went to the shop to try it on.

Well, no need for the alterations, the XL is just fine! A little bulky around the gut (even after the holidays :D), but otherwise, good enough to use as is. I stuffed myself into my drysuit with it on and had excellent mobility. :)

But one problem. There was one tooth missing on the zipper, so it wouldn't zip properly. :( So, now I wait for another one to be sent out. Bummer, because the water temps are now down in the 30's and the water is calling to me.

Tyler, hurry with the replacement (I paid in full last night).

Thanks!
