It ended up being Phil, Kidsdream, Gnats, and Myself. It was a great way to spend Valentines Day.
The movie was fantastic!! One of the highlights was the mating of giant, 3 ft long cuttle fish. The only other names I knew were rock fish, garden eels, sea snakes, sting rays, squid, and great white shark. With the video taken in places like papua new guinea and Australia, there were some very obscure marine life indeed! There was 1 type of school of fish that were individually about an inch long as juviniles. The Adult/Parent fish lives tucked into the reef and doesn't come out so, at night the entire school flows into an opening to get to where the adult is. It was like a river of juvies flowing 'into' the reef. They said there was no conclusive evidence as to how the adult feeds but, they speculate that either the juviniles provide a slime like substance of some sort or the adults slowly pick off their children every night.
The special effects were top notch and I jumped in my seat quite a few times while Phil and Natalie had their hands out trying to touch everything. Jeff was sitting farthest so....Natalie? Was he reaching out too??
Afterwards, we headed out to Pizzapopolis for some Chicago style pizza!
Good food and lovely dive stories!
Now we are really excited about OWU!!
