I have a Zeagle Escape with the 35# bladder, the manual says that you should not dive without the bungee bungeed (err. Attatched), why? It seems as if though the bungees rob the bladder of some of its capacity. Can you dive the bc without bungees without damaging the bladder?

Thanks!

I see no reason to remove the bungees. They do not trap air in any way and they are tucked in nicely so that they are not a significant entrapment hazzard.

I have a Scout with the same bladder/bungies (35 lb), I can't see any reason it would hurt them to remove the bungie but I also don't see a reason to do it. I have inflated the bladder ( both orally and with the inflator) and looked at the bladder. The amount the the bungies restrict it is very little. I can't imagine it drops to lift more than a pound or 2 and if that much additional lift is critical , then it's time to upgrade to a larger lift bladder. Besides, they make a great place to stow that blasted snorkle some boats require. :)

Hey! I never thought of using it as a "snorkle keeper!" I didn't really see that much need to remove them either, I was just curious as to what would happen if one were to, as Zeagle said in their manual not to.

I use the bungees to tuck my drysuit whip into when I'm diving wet. I guess it's an all-purpose bungee after all!

I do the same thing with the bungees on my Genesis Recon as they are a perfect place to stow the extra hose. I had not thought of them as a snorkel keeper though - great idea.

I have a Zeagle Scout. With the bungees on, with a completely deflated BC, my bubbles were getting in and making little balloons. My BC was acting like a parachute. I was having problems on safety stops and my AOW instructor spotted what was happening. Once we took the bungees off, no more issues. I liked the bungees for keeping everything compacted, but overall my diving experience has been much better without them. I've made about 20 bungeeless dives and there is absolutely no damage.

Once again.

Thanks scubawife for the report.

I may remove my bungees and use the tabs to mount my lift bag.

hmmm
