Yeah - you'll like it better I think. I mean - like Max said, just moving around in the suit during donning pretty much empties the suit anyway... The rest comes out when you splash and float for a sec.

Another thing that I learned to do to increase comfort if you're using a trilam - since I know you're using one - is the GUE drysuit fit procedure:

Once in the water, float on the surface face-down in a regular prone position. Inflate the suit a good bit, then stretch out with your arms forward and let the air bleed out. This will "set" the drysuit in your natural diving position and make for a more comfortable dive.

You're using the Trigon/cuff dump exhaust valve trick now, right?

Thanks for the video seajay, just what I needed to see as I plan to get the oval sitech cuffs on my next suit. It was very well done.

It actually gave me some inspiration as well. I've had this off and on leak in my right glove/arm. Because of your confidence in the system, I decided to do an overhaul. I started with a new wrist seal, I had used heat tape last time, so it was a relatively easy process to replace. Then soaped the suit/arm/new seal with no leaks. Then put on a new suit ring I had in the box from the set I used for my backup gloves. Then added a new oring to the wrist ring. I had the foresight to order some previously due to the experience from my DC rings.

Soaped it all again with the 720's in place, no leaks. I was planning to do some small repairs with aquaseal on some trim, and unfortunately tore my neck seal during this whole process. It was worn and needed to be replaced anyway.

So once I get the neck seal replaced, with heat tape again. I'll be looking forward to get back in the water to check my repairs. Fall is a great time to dive here. The air is cooler, the tree colors are amazing, and the water temp is still relatively warm. Mid 40's.

BTW, I'm diving a fusion tech, for a few years now, it's been a workhorse and no complaints from me, so my plan to get another fusion, and move this one to my backup.

You may want to read a few reviews about the oval rings before you spend the money. I had nothing but problems with mine. The gloves would pop off every time I reached for something. Most people I know with the oval system replaced them with the round rings.

I plan to mount my waterproof rings into the glued on ring in the suit and throw away the oval cuff system. The same as seajay did in the video.


Have there been problems in this setup???

So what did Chris say? I meant to email him myself and forgot to.

I heard back from Chris this morning... He said that he put in a request for the SHOWA 720 gloves - which I assume means that he'll have them in stock soon.

The video that I did above shows the 720 on the suit. I'm not sure why everyone wouldn't want this system. The gloves are like $6 for the pair. The hardest part of using them is putting them on the rings... But they're easier to install than the SHOWA 495s (PVC with a fuzzy, yellow, removable underglove), the 620s (orange PVC) the 660s (blue "smurf" PVC glove), the KV660s (smurf gloves with Kevlar), or the 660ESDs (black PVC gloves).

...Anyway - DRIS should have them soon.

That's what everyone does. The glued on ring is perfect for the round systems such as Ultima, Diving Concepts among others. I've used DC and Ultima on the suits with SiTech rings and they are perfect. It's the oval rings themselves that are crap.

The SiTech QCP Round system does NOT accept the Waterproof Ultima Dryglove Ring system. The suit-side soft ring that is glued to the suit is different.

...So if you plan to go with the Waterproof Ultima Dryglove Ring System, you MUST have the SiTech QCS Ovals first. This configuration is what I show, am using, and highly recommend.

I think the issues that you were experiencing with the system, Max, was with the Antares dryglove ring system, which is specifically made for the QCS Ovals... Or maybe with the SiTech Quick Glove ring system, which can be used with both the QCP and QCS rings.

The whole thing is confusing as hell. :-/

Max, I haven't personally tried installing a Waterproof Ultima Dryglove Ring System in a SiTech QCP Round's soft suit-side ring. I'm just going on what the manufacturer has claimed.

They fit great in a QCS Oval's soft suit-side ring, as you see in the video.

Do you have a QCP Round suit-side ring installed on one of your suits? Do they accept a Waterproof Ultima Dryglove Ring System?

Can you verify if the soft suit-side ring on the QCS Ovals is different than the ones that come with the QCP Rounds?

I think that the QCS Oval soft suit-side rings are smaller than the ones that come with the QCP Rounds.

I had the Antares dryglove ring system on my Waterproof suit. I didn't realize there were multiple size cuff rings. I originally installed Diving Concepts rings after the oval rings kept popping off. I later swapped them out for the Ultima rings, which are a little easier to get my hands through and to remove the gloves after a dive.
