Hi guys -- I really enjoy seeing the discussion on the best drygloves. Unfortunately there is so much discussion that I'm not sure what gloves I need!

I'm currently using the 495 gloves with the yellow acrylic liners, I find them comfy and warm diving in 40-50 F water. However, I find them to get cut pretty easily and they accumulate a lot of aquaseal over time.

Is there another glove I should try?

Yes.

Try the SHOWA 720 (called the 720R by some). You'll find:

1. Better cut resistance.

2. A thinner, stretchier, more comfortable glove that's easier to install on rings.

3. Better dexterity.

4. Increased tactile feel through the glove.

5. Warmer than the 495. You may even decide to not use the yellow underglove.

I also recommend switching out from the cheap yellow underglove to a set of Fourth Element Xerotherm undergloves (called "glove liners" by some). You'll find these equally as warm as the yellow gloves with less bulk... And the fuzzy wrists are designed to fit under a wrist seal so you don't have to use the tubes.

Post a review when you dive them. :)

Also, call SHOWA and ask for samples. The first few are free. :)

By the way... Aquaseal supposedly won't stick to the 720s... Meaning that they're not repairable.

...But at $6 a pair, they're easily replaced if you do actually hole one.

Cool! Do some video too if you can... The more perspectives we have on what's good and what's bad, the better. :-)

Looking forward to it, bud!

BTW... I used to live in Medford Lakes NJ... Actually, the tiny town next door called Shamong... It was "Indian Mills" back then. :-)

I haven't made one of those rigs yet but wish I had. I got my set of Ultima rings yesterday. When I got Merry's set in May she helped me get her gloves on. Last night I tried for 45 minutes to get my 720s on the rings, failing every time. Sometimes I would get them on but while trying to adjust the length they would come off. Finally I got two of my Diving Concepts O-rings, which are slightly longer and was able to get the gloves on without a problem.

I was able to cheat a little and place the ring on my bathroom countertop, next to my bathroom sink. I pressed the ring into the corner against the backsplash, which held the ring still enough for me to stretch a 720 over it.

Not as slick as the disk bolted to a tabletop, but it worked okay. :-)

I was trying door knobs and cabinet knobs with no luck. I kept my DC setup and extra three sets of rings/gloves for my backup suit. My primary suit now has only one set of gloves so If I get a leak I will have to stretch another gloves over the Ultima ring again. I don't even want to think about it. :(

Sounds like I really need to offer the service.
