Kg,

AE has the same allowances as American. ReefDiva pretty much summed it up. I do however suggest that you put a bathing suit, your reg (at minimum) and a change of clothing (don't forget the toothbrush!) in a carry on. AE at times, especially during high season has difficulties with balancing their loads. At times people get left behind in SJ and sometimes it is luggage. The majority of the dive shops will accommodate you with gear until your luggage arrives if it is left behind.

DAE did not bring our luggage from BON to AUA in September, and had to send it to our home. We stayed under the 44lb. Our carryons were a mite heavy, but were small enough to not look heavy. But I put BCD,regulator, wet suit, skin, bathing suit, booties, camera, mask, light and a computer in my carryon, along with a few clothes. It was a squeeze. Reason I did that, previous time I came in from SJ on AE, and the checked luggage didn't arrive for 5 days.
