So from 20+ m vis last week in Bali to 3m vis in DXB.

Met up with my two usual buddies at the Bridge yesterday (Sat 15 Oct). It was busy and quite a few other divers too, however they generally stay shallow for training purposes and rarely see them underwater, probably due to the poor vis 🤣

Water temp is still warm, 31C :D and I dived in a skin.

The three of us did a remarkable job keeping together, but I eventually found myself solo, I had to remind D to switch on his torch, makes a huge difference when under the bridge to find each other.

I managed to find the first seahorse, not far from one of my markers when I was solo, and the strobes firing attracted K and D. After that we managed to stay together until close to the 120 min mark when we were heading back to the beach.

Between columns 2 and 3 I came across a well buried Platycephalus indica (Indian Flathead)

Dozens of cuttlefish around, the smaller ones were very skittish and not as cooperative as the larger ones.

All in all a great morning, refilled the tanks at Al Boom and went for a curry with K as D only had a pass for the morning :rofl3:

Another Bridge dive this morning with @Rayk nice to find a new buddy who is available and patient :D

We found two seahorses and surprisingly the second one out in the sandy area between columns 4 and 3 on our return.

First one

Second one

Not many cuttlefish around though for some reason.

Two dives at the Bridge yesterday, the first was in a raging current so much so, we called the dive after 40 mins, just really bad timing regarding high tide, which was at 12:22 and we entered the water at 09:00.

Refilled the tanks and went back in again at 11:30 and had a nice two hour dive. Found loads of H. infucata as well as two seahorses.

Today my daughter was teaching a student and had another one who had just qualified. The Bridge was not really going to be suitable for and OW student so we ended up going to La Mer in almost zero vis.

It was coaxed into buddying the newly qualified young lady (I'll almost do anything for a free cup of coffee and a PappRoti bun). when we came across this.

I did have a WTF moment, would have been more freakier if we'd been on a night dive 🤣

First opportunity this morning to test my new YSD3 Mk2 strobe, using it with a YSD2J

No seahorses unfortunately and only one cuttlefish, but I thought I'd try and get some pics of this pair of sand gobies (Valenciennea sp.) that I've noticed at the third pillar of Bulgari Bridge.

I did manage to get very close and this shot is full frame with the 60mm lens.

They appear to be fairly cooperative and went about their own business whilst I watched.

Getting cooler now, 28C, need my 3mm for the next dive here.

Edited to add the lens size.

Back to the Bridge this morning with my usual buddy for a nice two hour relaxed dive.

Loads of cuttlefish around, but no seahorses :(

Only one nudi, Goniobranchus obsolatus, fighting it's way through some tasty hydroids.

Water temp remaining at 28C, had my 3mm on today.

Back at the Bridge this morning with Jimmy from Abu Dhabi.

Cuttlefish everywhere, and some big ones too, all fairly chilled out and got really close to them.

No seahorses spotted though although I did find a Goniobranchus annulata

That makes four different species of nudis I've spotted at this site.

Late decision to dive the Bridge this afternoon as I wanted to avoid the current since it was a full moon last night.

Found one nudi Goniobranchus obsoletus and several large cuttlefish, but no seahorses :(

Off to the east coast tomorrow to dive with BDC

Monday is low tide at Jumeirah 09:49, and I plan to be there around 08:30 if @Fires and @Rayk are available let me know and we can meet up.

Water temp was 26C today and it was cold, windy and overcast when I got out of the water at 14:37.

Dived the "Bridge" this morning with @Fires who found the first seahorse :thumb: which was laying over a small rock like it had a hangover from last night.

I had set up my camera with an additional strobe (BackScatter MiniStrobe with snoot attached) connected to my YSD3 to fire it. It took a lot of re-aiming the thing before I managed to get a decent shot due to the sunlight masking the focus light from the BS strobe.

Found a second seahorse hanging onto one of my chopstick markers that I'd put down a couple of months back.

Tried the snoot again with a nudi, this is the best shot out of 33

Water temp was 25C and I was getting a bit chilly using only my 3mm and a hood, 5mm on the next dive here for sure.
