Typhoon Parma is expected this weekend, now Cat-3, expected to build to Cat-4 for northern islands landings...

Followed by TD 18: Tropical Depression Eighteen.gif

Then Melor which is expected to make Cat-3: Tropical Storm Melor.gif

Manila was hit with record floods by a storm last weekend with hundreds dead. Pacific relief efforts are surely challenged with that, the Typhoon that continued on into Viet Nam and Cambodia, the Somaoan Tsunami, and today's earthquake in Malaysia.

For the sake of my Filipino friends, I hope these fade away off their current course. They've suffered enough from the recent one. Good thing I didn't schedule my trip to the PI for the fall.

Looks like #18 is gone, Typhoon Melor is veering north of the PIs, but Typhoon Parma is going to spend a couple of days on top of the northern islands. Flooding could be extreme...

I was thinking that Manila was further south. It is south of the direct hit zone, but on the same island....

Looks like it's going to dump heavily on the north end of the island all weekend. Their rice crop was heavily damaged last weekend.

I am glad that this last one missed Manila. They went thru hell last weekend.

Yeah, close call but Manila only has 40% chance of rain today.
