Ber, I'm with you. I won't drive to CTQ from Cincinnati either. Been there twice, my IDC and my IE....absolutely no reason to go back.

Im sure glad you said something ber I was thinking my dive computer must be off I know it said 700 ft last time I was at Circleville I'm pretty sure they dont consider that an altitude dive.

Not an altitude dive - so sorry- I dove Mt Storm WV the day prior and had just written that thread a few minutes prior. My mind must have wandered.

And some of us who dive both places with some frequency will disagree .... CTQ has it's good points as well.

They all have their good points :D Natural Springs is only 20 minutes from the house and at $3.00 a gallon for gas I'm not driving farther than I have to for shallow water.

Done that - at least to the two hour point. One of these days I'll take a 119 and sling an 80 or so and see what transpires. NSR has a nice entry and the trench, but I don't like the assault on one's senses when dropping through the thermocline to cruise the trench - not to mention low viz. The other thing neither Gilboa or NSR have is Gibby's sports bar/restruaunt in Circleville. Best burgers in Ohio unless you want to step-up to something like the Cheesecake Factory (and spend your gear upgrade money on a meal).

In the early spring and winter the visibility at Natural Springs can be 50+ feet. I'm a little twisted, I LIKE the thermocline :D

Gilboa has the Red Pig restaurant, one of the top 12 bbq places in the US (according to their menu) :eyebrow: They also have Stinky's Bar where you can watch busload after busload of bachelorette parties come through on some Saturday nights.

We're just hamming with you :D Welcome to the group! We would have loved to have you join us at Gilboa last weekend! We had warm tents for the SI's and all kinds of food (chicken stew, chili, spaghetti to name a few).

Wow... In 9 years, I've never been to either of those. Gonna have to make some new food runs!! :rofl3:

Stinky's doesn't have food, just Saturday bachelorettes and one heck of a Halloween party :D

Red Pig is in Ottawa near WalMart...good stuff!

Okay... thought I'd missed something... I've been to the Red Pig in Ottawa a couple of times. Still.... perhaps we could carry in a bowl of stew or something and watch the Saturday entertainment at Stinky's. :)

You drove all the way from Michigan to dive Circleville? Wow! I won't even drive there from Dayton LOL!
Ber :lilbunny:

Trust me it wasnt worth the drive. I went to be a buddy for my cousin who was doing his opens water check out dives. he wanted me their to be his buddy so gotta do what you gotta do. I feel the same way about Gilboa but some people dive it every weekend so go figure.

Thanks!
Sometimes I'm so thrilled to be on the road that it is nice to be in communication with like-minded individuals. Dive dive dive. We're off to the southeast of the US. and I'm happy to be underwater...
