A main draw for us to go was one of the divemasters, Osman. Osman has been diving in Roatan forever and knows how a dive operation should run. He was our divemaster at a different resort on our first trip to Roatan.

He was at Coco View where I watched him grow from a rake wielding yard-boy to the best DM on Roatan. Brilliant individual. Between Osman and his Uncle Alex, we did maybe 150 night dives alone. Lucky you!

Thanks for the TBR view.

I haven’t mentioned it as this thread is about AKR & TBR and didn’t want to detract from that. I’ll send a PM though.
Ha, nice one :). Most are not shy in their adoration for Coco View, I've only been to Turquoise Bay on my one trip to Roatan.

I wouldn’t be shy about it if they were part of the comparison. I also know there are enough of us “coconuts” on the board that anyone who has spent time in here knows the general feeling. On other message boards I dislike when people go off topic and interject their favourite thing at every opportunity. Just trying not to have another thread potentially go the same path.

CocoView Resort is diver-focused, offers the opportunity for much more diving in the week if you do shore dives, & doesn't take customers under 10 years old, IIRC, and you mentioned Turquoise Bay Resort has some beach and appeals also to non-divers, so I imagine they appeal to somewhat different customer bases? If my wife & child were along, vs. if I were solo, I might go either way if I ever make it to Roatan.

Speaking of solo, I notice on Turquoise Bay Resort's website a 2017 single supplement of $180. But there's mention of a 19% tax. Does that apply to the $180?

Richard.

Legally the Honduran tax applies to that too, yes.

In any reservation, try to negotiate for them to waive that fee for single supplement. I've seen it disappear.
