To be truthful, neither, they are the weakest part of the DUI suit. I have removed the feet of the DUI suit and replaced them with another manufacturers boot (DiveRite 905). Quite a few people have done the same and been very satisfied.

I have been contemplating the replacement of my rock boots with turbo soles, but was worried about the fin slipping and causing holes. The one thing I notice with my rock boots is the insole came out shortly after and I keep having to flatten it out (it folds up) so that I have a bit of cushion there. Any ideas? Thought about trying to expoxy it back in. The reason I wanted to replace them was for the flexibility in the ankles to help with my backwards kick. Probably just need to do some more playing in the pool though.

The reason I am asking is because my suit was sent back to DUI because the turbo soles were too big (and since THEY measure you for a signature suit, it was their mistake to put big socks on). I've been using the suit for 2 months before I sent it back and I noticed that the fin straps DO slip a bit and can get kind of uncomfortable. My ankles also hurt but I attributed that to new jet style fins that are still stiff. What I DO like is that I don't have to pack or dry dirty rock boots or try to shove non form fitting drysuit socks into boots. I also like that I can throw on any of the fins that I use when diving wet. As long as its at DUI, I thought maybe I should switch the socks for regular socks and boots. However, that also means buying ANOTHER pair of fins =/

Even with springs?

Even with springs?

Yes, I only use springs. I guess it's because there's no hard "lip" around the heels. Rather, it's a soft back. The springs don't actually slip off completely because the soles themselves form a lip but I can feel it moving around just a little. But it's enough that it actually feels like I'm getting a little burn.

I'm not a fan of the rock boots or the turbo soles either, I still like the rubber boot offered by other suits. I like the zip seal idea, and DUI suits. But rock boots on someone like me with large feet mean you need giant big foot fins. and the soles just seem really weak. My feelings after trying a DUI suit.

Chuck Taylors are way cheaper, get the job done and you don't have to use XXL fins.
