Which do you prefer?
Why?

I presume placement is much better with the syringe...
How is it with unwanted oversqueeze?
Plunger pull-back necessary to prevent it or not really?
How well and safely can the syringe be closed and brought on trips?

Also, keep in mind that you can buy a tube and a syringe separately, and refill the syringe from the tube.

FWIW - for lubricating o-rings, both are equally useless. A small "zip-lock" with some lube in it is the way to go. I guess I'd go with the tube, and procure a syringe for precision point applications.

I prefer the syringe. I find it easier to control the amount of lube and much better for getting lube where I want. The lube stops coming out when you stop pushing the plunger. For storage I pull it back slightly, no problems on trips.

I originally started with the tube but switched to the syringe. I find the syringe easier to control the amount and location of the lube. Since I still have some in the tube, I still use that for locations where it can be a little sloppier or precise application isn't necessary.

Tube and fingers works well. Add a toothpick to lube a BP HP o-ring.

Not sure I am sure I know how you mean that:
a.) Like I might put mustard or such in a small zip lock bag for a backcountry trip to the snip the corner off and do a one time dispense? No, or?
b.) Like marinating? Like have a little lube in the baggy, add o-ring, close baggy, squish baggy to try to get o-ring lube coated. Take coated o-ring out and consider re-using baggy for next o-ring?
That may make sense... for smaller rings...
Would you do that even for larger rings (e.g. camera housing, albeit not necessarily tribolube)
c.) ?

While I am asking: is applying and distributing with a clean, lint and dust and whatnot free finger the way to go for large rings.

Thanks. Good to know it can be "stopped on a dime".

Yeah, I can see the utility in the toothpick.

size 412 irrigation syringe is what I've started giving my reg class students. Monoject 412: Dental Supplies | eBay

I started buying them in lots of 25. They are great for lubing the balance chamber o-ring groove.

Also very precise control as opposed to the 2 oz syringe the tribolube comes in. They also get 5 2x2 plastic zip loc bags to lube o-rings with for the class. I bought 500 of those a few years back for like 6 bucks or something.
