size 412 irrigation syringe is what I've started giving my reg class students. Monoject 412: Dental Supplies | eBay

I started buying them in lots of 25. They are great for lubing the balance chamber o-ring groove.

Also very precise control as opposed to the 2 oz syringe the tribolube comes in. They also get 5 2x2 plastic zip loc bags to lube o-rings with for the class. I bought 500 of those a few years back for like 6 bucks or something.

Exactly. Not knowing any better, I bought the 2oz syringe, which for the benefit of those who can't picture 2 fluid ounces of something you generally only need a pinhead-sized amount of, is a relatively large amount. I figured it was cheaper in the long run to buy a large amount. However, for the small amount of reg servicing I do, this may very well be a lifetime supply. The large 2 oz. syringe is unwieldy. Maybe good for packing piston regs or something, but too large to be handy for simple o-ring lube. If I had to buy again, I would buy a small syringe and fill it from a tube.

The plastic bag trick is new to me!

My first 2 oz syringe is just about done. It's taken 4 years use it up. That's servicing mine and customer regs. I just got another one to replace it that I have not opened up yet.

I think Vance Harlow (SCUBA REGULATOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR by Vance Harlow) coined the term "lube-o-matic" to describe a small dollop of grease in a plastic bag. That works great for o-rings and to carry as part of your save-a-dive kit. For everything else, I like the precision of a syringe.
