The kelp certainly has made a comeback thanks to some good, nutrient-rich, cold water... and the temporary demise of the invasive Sargassum filicinum which, as an annual, has largely died off (for now). I even got "mad" at it while diving last weekend because it ruined some great shots of a harbor seal, and greatly masked a poor little male bat ray trying to mate a much larger female who wanted nothing to do with him. I sympathized with the little guy.
