My boyfriend and I were in Puerto Galera for 5 days (Nov. 15-19). It's my first time back in the Philippines since I left in 1999. We liked Asia Divers/El Galleon's location and convenience because they have a private dock and they're away from the "escort girls" and motorbike hagglers. The landscaping in the resort is also nice. It felt more peaceful than the resorts on Sabang Beach.

As for the dives, WOW WOW WOW! We're used to northern california shore diving so everything is automatically 100x better here. I caught a cold on our 2nd day in PG, so we only managed to do 9 dives. We did: monkey beach/wreck, escarceo, hole in the wall, pink wall, the canyons, kilima, sabang wrecks, shark cave, ernie's cave, and VERDE ISLAND DROP-OFF! I'm so happy that we got to go to Verde. I risked it all by diving with a cold. It was worth it though. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen in my life.

Great write up! Great report! Great pictures! I keep telling everyone I see that Verde is a must dive!!

Brilliant shots, and great trip report - thanks for sharing!

Glad you had a good time fuggler!:coffee:

Four more weeks and I'll be gearing up for my dives at PG. Thanks for the tease.

Verde Drop-off is arguably the best dive in the immediate area. The current can be fierce, but I've never been disappointed with a dive there. Canyons and Kilima Steps are also favourites of mine. Oh heck, the whole area is top-notch... Hope you don't wait another ten years before you return.:D

We did Canyons and Kilima on the same day and our divemaster was surprised when I told him that Kilima was my favorite non-Verde site. He said "better than Canyons?!" lol As a wannabe photographer, I just find it a hassle to bring my camera on drift dives. Kilima was a nice, mellow change.

I'm definitelt coming back next year. :D

Wow, nice! & I recognise the Canon Powershot G series housing... Which one are u using?

From the international airport in Manila, how did you get to Puerto Galera? Any problems with typhoons while you were there?
